Superman - redesign

This is my response to Wonder Woman #600.

I don't' like male superheroes wearing underwear on the outside. That's why I prohibit that style in my male heroes. I'm not a big fan of Superman due to the fact that he never changed from his "iconic" costume ("Electric Blue" Superman aside), which happens to include a pair of red trunks. I loved the original Wonder Woman costume because to me that was an antidote to Superman's suit. I thought that no one will change WW's costume star-spangled leotard believing no artist or writer can mess up with a classic.

Then came #600.

I felt immensely angry and upset that they screwed up with the new costume, so in response I drew this redesign of Superman's costume. I made it more modern and ditching the red trunks they it stats tried and true to the iconic look. Many comic book purists will hate me and will tell me not to mess around with the classic look. But if DC Comics can screw Wonder Woman's outfit, I would make this even.

This is also a plea to the executive producers of Smallville and Christophen Nolan, who is developing a Superman movie for Holiday 2012. I beg of them to not use the "classic" version of the outfit. They are many movie superheroes who had their uniforms changed for the big screen, yet Superman is the only one who gets away with keeping his comic book clothes. And that upsets me. I hope this will get their attention.

I hope you understand my situation and hoping that DC Comics will update the Superman costume in the near future.
