17-year old Jenny Busby attends the same high school as Jasmine Webb Starling (Aurora Star). She is also the school's swimming champion (her mother is a currently working lifeguard). She is even a big fan of Aurora Star herself. In the first days of Aurora's appearance in the scene, Jasmine's two classmates and friends, George Raby and Curtis Michaud (who would later know her secret) suspects at first Jenny to be Aurora's secret identity, believing that her physical appearance could be a dead ringer for the superhero persona of Aurora, but Jenny denies that she is the reluctant teenaged heroine they think she was. In the first few adventures, Jenny was held victim to the clutches of Alpha Nemesis' dark minions only to be rescued by the somewhat accident-prone Aurora, but George and Curtis were chickened out of Jenny's sight and saw Aurora defeated the monsters when Jenny was not there, making them suspicious about Jenny being Aurora when she was not there.

Later in the months ahead, when the Star Maidens were looking for a few more recruits to prepare themselves for a showdown with Alpha's sister Omega Vortex and her army of rogue Star Maidens, Jenny was a bit suspicious herself about the hesitant activities of Jasmine. She believed that Aurora herself appeared to rescue her when Jasmine was not in the same situation as Jasmine, so Jenny secretly stalked her after school. When Jenny followed Jasmine at a local elementary school, a monster attacked the school as its' tenants fled with horror. Jenny tried to help the children when she accidentally saw Jasmine transformed into Aurora Star. Shocked, Jenny approached Aurora and the two were embroiled in a heated argument. Jasmine's fairy guardian Crystalia arrived and reminded Aurora to rescue the children and defeat the monster, but the two girls were still arguing. Suddenly the monster ambushed the girls, and in a desperation move, Crystalia haltingly transformed Jenny into a Star Maiden in order to help Aurora defeat the monster. Jenny chickened out in the last moment as the other Maidens arrived in the scene and defeated the monster. Jenny ran away to a nearby malt shop and Aurora followed. When Jenny attracted attention from the shop's customers with her new outfit, some of them cheered her claiming her credit for saving the school from the attacker earlier. Though Jenny was never responsible for saving the school, she wises up and returned there to talk with the other maidens. Now feeling that she should be more responsible for being a hero, she decided to join the Star Maidens to the joyful sight of Aurora's eyes, and christens herself as Sapphire Stardust. Thus as the final, for the time being, member of the Star Maidens, Jenny was help out her friends and defend Earth from Alpha Nemesis, the Dark Entity, and the Rogue Star Maidens and their combined determination to enslave humanity, while following her dreams to becoming a championship swimmer.

Jenny is recognized around the school as one of its' most popular students due to her sweet personality, and courteousness toward her fellow peers. But as time progressed she also developed a knack to be more ditzy than even Jasmine herself. She takes pride in entertaining her house guests with her hospitality; she even provides pastry and tea to her fellow Maidens whenever they planning their next team strategies. Knowing about Jasmine's crime fighting exploits as Aurora, Jenny looks to her as a positive role model and occasionally teaches her swimming lessons. Despite her flakiness, Jenny is a selfless person who goes the extra mile when she tries to help people. She is also a constant partier who tells her comrades to cheer up and be upbeat even in desperate times. Having seeing her adventures as a superhero as a release from the hectic school life, Jenny is determine to give it all to help her fellow Maidens and the defend the people she serves. Her favorite hobbies are continuous swim practice, attracting boys and serving delicacies to guests. Her favorite food is Strawberry Shortcake. Her preferred drink is milk tea.

Sapphire possesses the exact same superhuman abilities as all the other Star Maidens: super speed and strength, flight, a "smart" shield protecting her from all types of projectile weapons and explosives, spinning transformation and her special magical attacks. Her special magical attacks are the "Sapphire Stardust Sprinkle", where she spins around deploying shiny, star-like dust particles to distract and disarray an adversary; this is primary used as a distraction method for her teammates use their offensive moves; and the "Sparkle Beam Blaster" in which she emits a star-shaped projectile from her hands and project a powerful laser beam to stun or immobilize its' target. She can generate a magical beam lasso that can expand up to 50 feet. She is highly trained athlete, professional swimmer and part-time diver. She is extensively trained from her mother in lifeguard basics and CPR. She is a trained in defensive hand-to-hand combat and is an expert in handling the nunchuks. Her "Counter-Maiden" weapon is the stun nunchuku which handle ends can fire stun lasers to immobilize its' intended targets and can be also used as to disarm armed personnel. She is fluent in French, Japanese, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese. She is well experienced in hospitality and table manners.
