Soon being outnumbered by the Entity's minions and the renegade Star Maidens led by Omega Vortex, the Star Maidens, who were supposed to only be a trio, are forced to expand their manpower (or in their case "girl-power") by recruiting capable and willing volunteers. Regina Dovehart, aka Emerald Starburst, had no other choice but to trust Jasmine Webb Starling/Aurora Star to be a suitable recruit to expand their forces to fight the opposing adversaries. One day, Jasmine was at school she was informed by her teacher that a transfer student is joining her class. Arriving in the classroom, a redhead girl dressed in a suit jacket and long slacks appeared. Selena Cavalier, a daughter of Aurora, Oregon's prominent city councilmen, sat next to Jasmine, who was impressed by her serious stature, and overbearing confidence. Jasmine thought that Selena was the perfect candidate for being the newest Star Maidens only by noticing her attitude and "professional" demeanor, unfortunately little does Jasmine knew that Selena has absolutely zero combat experience and only knows "super heroism" from reading adult-oriented graphic novels. Later in the day, one of the Entity's minions attacked the school and Jasmine's friends soon arrived in their Star Maiden uniforms. After a lengthy initial battle, all three girls' attacks against the monster are useless. Aurora Star asked her fairy guardian Crystalia, to go to Selena and transform her into a Star Maiden. When the fairy appeared to Selena, who has shivering hiding in the women's restroom, Selena screamed loudly and was thinking that this was one of illusions caused by her recent sugar rush (eating too much donuts as lunch earlier). Believing Jasmine/Aurora's advise and unbeknownst to Selena, the fairy transform her into a Star Maiden. After a lengthy period of shock and misunderstandings, Selena came to her senses and joined the battle, using her newfound powers and magical attacks, she helped the Maiden defeating the minion. New forced to be the latest Star Maiden, Selena owes Jasmine some pretty good explanation what was going on. Leading up of a chain of events that forced Selena to have no choice but to Joined her teammates in the crusade against the Entity and the rogue Maidens, and to live to rest of her school days and Jasmine's friend and classmate, whether she likes it or not.

Selena is a egotistic yet independent and a very sensitive person. Despite taking pride being the school's resident tomboy (she fashions herself in masculine-type though form-fitting clothing (she hates skirts)), she has deep feminine feelings especially towards the opposite gender. She gets easily frustrated and angered by Jasmine's constant teasing and joking about her fashions and attitude, leading to her applying physical abuse (light slapstick in nature) towards Jasmine. While she always argues with Jasmine, Selena has a soft spot for her and ends up protecting her in times of danger (whether she likes it or not). She also has a phobia for white cats (which one of them scratch her hand when she was in elementary school). Selena dreams one day to be an inspiring businesswoman and role model, but is forced to live with the duties and responsibilities of being a newfound super heroine with her fellow teammates, save for the experienced Regina Dovehart/Royal Starburst. Her favorite hobbies are first person shooter games, swimming and reading mature graphic novels. Her favorite foods are jelly-filled donuts and Chinese meat dumplings.

As Mayflower (but only when in this transformed state), Selena possesses the same superhuman powers and abilities as her fellow teammates: Super-strength, super-speed, flight, a "smart-homing" special barrier shield that protects her when projectile weapons and explosives, spinning transformation and her own magical attack powers: in her case a dual-attack based on lighting and fire. Her other special attack is her "Sonic Shockwave" attack, where she emits powerful sonic waves from her hands; she can also apply them for a lower ground attack by slamming her fist in the ground and focusing her waves there towards her target. She also has special X-Ray vision that can see through any solid object. Her "counter-maiden" weapon ("counter-maiden" is a term used for facing other Star Maidens in combat) is a generated laser broadsword used for melee combat. As of her fellow Star Maidens, she also has a radio-link headset that can monitor all forms of Earth communication channels (shortwave radio, satellite, internet). She is schooled in business, commerce, cooking, art, and foreign culture. She is a well-trained swimmer and diver. She has extensive hand-to-hand combat training from Royal Starburst.
