Ter'ile DaFunha was an undercover officer for her planet's military police force. When she heard her partner in the force and lover was captured while infiltrating a brutal space pirate clan, she accepted to pose as a space buccaneer and rescue him. When she infiltrated the ones who toke her lover hostage, the notorious Orion clan, led by the notorious pirate Jen'ar Ta'Lul, Ter'ile found out that the clan found an ancient alien relic called the Swords of Jed'ar, which legend hat that whoever possesses the weapons transform into mighty warriors of incredible power. She also learned that after the clan steal the swords, they will then proceed to a distant planet called Earth, and plunder its' resources. Thus led to a turn of events that led to Jen'ar and Ter'ile possessing both swords, transforming them into super-powered fighters of awesome strength and speed. Their battles led to Earth, where Ter'ile is determined to stop the Orion clan and their ruthless goals, find her lover, and save Earth. All the while trying to live a life on Earth under the cover of Tori DeLouise, an office worker and security consultant for a paramilitary security agency in Atlanta, Georgia, while using her powerful alter ego to fight crime and evil plagued the planet.

Tori is a dedicated officer to serve her fellow citizens and to be with her lover, who is also a dedicated police officer. She has an aggressive, forceful warrior mentality, always going headfirst into battle. This proves to be somewhat of a curse considering that she cannot sometimes balance her war-like instincts with her professional obligations as a detective. Tori is a little naïve getting to Earth life, but with the later help from her comrades in the Protectors, she will continue to fight for her beliefs and her passion. Her favorite hobbies are playing beach volleyball and tennis. Her favorite Earth foods are almonds.

Tori is an otherwise non-powered humanoid. But when transformed into Cosmic Lightsword, Tori has amazing superhuman abilities and powers and flight, super-speed, super-strength, teleportation, enhanced agility, time travel, and other powers she later developed. Tori is a skilled detective with a past arrest record that rivals the elite officers of the Intergalactic Patrol and the Space Knights (she once applied for the IP Academy before the incident with the Orion clan). She is a trained interrogator and hostage negotiator. She is a professional athlete, swimmer and gymnast. She is a skilled and experienced swordswoman and hand-to-hand combatant, mastering in alien light sword-fighting techniques and later in Earth-based fencing and Oriental-based martial arts. Her sword can be used as a firing weapon, it projects a wide variety of laser-type weapons including magnetic and ultrasonic beams; it can also be used to generate an invulnerable force field as can deflect projectile weapons, including lasers and Earth-based automatic weapons fire. Even as Cosmic Lightsword, Tori cannot fly in the vacuum of space without the assistance of a space suit; she could only fly within the planet's stratosphere. Also, although blessed with super-strength, she is still vulnerable to projectile and laser weapons. She can transform by pulling out her sword and shout "Tara tiru haellatus!" (An ancient alien chant used to activate the sword's power).
